TL;DR: Emacs TRAMP-RPC swaps shell-parsing for a Rust binary on the remote host that speaks MessagePack-RPC over SSH. It auto-deploys via scpx, handles non-UTF8 filenames by using raw binary types, and batches requests to make file stats and directory listings 2–4x faster than vanilla TRAMP.
