Firefox 153 introduces native Multi-Account Containers, bringing extension-based container functionality directly into the browser core.
Key points:
- Containers isolate cookies and ad tracking for separate online activities (work, shopping, personal, banking) within the same window
- Extends the functionality of the Multi-Account Containers extension as a first-party feature
- Current extension users can continue using the add-on alongside native containers — no need to uninstall
- Not all extension features are available yet in the native version — still being built out
- Focused on making context separation seamless for future privacy and isolation features
