What Is This?

https://engine.arcology.garden

The Arcology Project is a personal, mobile-first knowledge management system built on org-mode and org-roam, designed to replace traditional Emacs tooling with native, offline-capable applications. It explicitly rejects the open-source community model in favor of an opinionated, idiosyncratic setup tailored for a single user’s workflow, relying on federated infrastructure like Syncthing for synchronization rather than corporate cloud services. The system is developed using literate programming in Kotlin, where org-mode documents serve as the primary source for generating both application code and system configurations.

The ecosystem comprises three main components: an Android app supporting over 50,000 headings with BM25-ranked full-text search; Arroyo, a concept operating system that generates NixOS and Emacs configurations from documentation-driven metadata; and a web publishing server that exposes org-roam headings across multiple domains via RSS and Fediverse integration. The project is distributed as a published personal system rather than a collaborative product, encouraging users to fork the codebase at code.rix.si/rrix/arcology2go if they wish to adapt it for their own use.
