Omarchy and NixOS

A NixOS forum thread asks whether the community should build a "batteries-included" flake to rival Omarchy, a preconfigured Arch Linux distribution that is rapidly attracting new users. The original poster cites Omarchy's momentum and star-history chart as evidence of a demand for easy onboarding, suggesting a similar project could lower the barrier for newcomers to NixOS.

The discussion has generated significant traffic—15.3k views and 1.2k likes—but the provided text only lists top replies without revealing the actual arguments. Early responses point to existing resources like the NixOS Configuration Collection wiki and link to an xkcd comic about "fastest-growing" projects, hinting at skepticism toward trend-chasing or a preference for maintaining existing documentation over creating new, potentially redundant projects. The thread serves as a debate on whether a centralized, opinionated default configuration is necessary for NixOS growth or if the current ecosystem already fulfills that role.
