System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster | Download and Buy Today - Epic Games Store

Nightdive Studios has released the System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster, a modernized version of the classic FPS/RPG that adds cross-play co-op multiplayer and mod support to the original 1999 experience. The update includes three military branches (O.S.A., Marines, or Navy) for varied playstyles, enhanced character and weapon models, and optimized controller support. Performance specs claim up to 144FPS with ultra-widescreen support, running on modest hardware requirements like a dual-core CPU and 2 GB of RAM for the minimum configuration.

The game is currently available for free on the Epic Games Store as part of a limited-time promotion ending October 8, 2026, down from its standard price of $29.99. Rated Mature 17+ by the ESRB for blood, gore, and violence, the title has received a high player rating of 4.7 on the platform. While the store page lists these features and ratings, it provides no technical analysis or critical review of how well the remaster handles the original's complex mechanics, leaving the quality of the "modernized" experience to be judged by the free trial itself.
